Those of us at MLE International respectfully acknowledge all Indigenous people on whose traditional homelands the organization is based. Stafford Springs, Connecticut is the traditional homeland of Nipmuck people; state law currently recognizes five tribes: Golden Hill Paugussett, Mashantucket Pequot, Mohegan, Paucatuck Eastern Pequot, and Schaghticoke. We aim to honor Indigenous people with our work and, in solidarity with the International Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032, we will use our platform to help draw attention to the critical situation of many Indigenous languages and their speakers, and to mobilize resources for their cultivation and promotion in education and in society.
