Technical support to organizations implementing MLE in Myanmar
Since 2018 Carol Benson, Erina Iwasaki, and Jasmine Williams have been monitoring the development of MTB-MLE in Myanmar. Several non-dominant ethnolinguistic groups are implementing their language as a language of education. Erina and Jasmine were in Yangon and Northern Myanmar in early 2020 to do some preliminary research with the Myanmar Education Consortium (MEC) and their partner organizations, which included writing assessments and teacher interviews. We continue to support MEC and its partners to strengthen their capacity to use non-dominant languages in Myanmar through language-in-education research, curriculum development, and teacher training.
